Artists Talk(ing)

Artists Talk(ing) is an evening featuring Carolina Cappelli and Marco-Augusto Basso, the winners of the first edition of the Premio Vienna. Premio Vienna is a collaborative project between the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna, the Italian Ministry of Culture and Angewandte Performing Laboratory (APL), which aims to foster the development of partnerships between Italy and Austria within the emerging performance art scene. During this event, Carolina and Marco-Augusto will introduce themselves and their artistic works to a broader audience. They will also be leading an open conversation, delving into various topics that arise throughout the evening. We encourage everyone to join us for this engaging and enlightening discussion.

The event will take place on Friday, 12th January at 6pm at APL Studio, Georg-Coch-Platz 2.
The talk will be in English, without translation. No booking is required. 

Carolina Cappelli is an Italian performer, filmmaker and artistic gymnastics teacher. Her research involves the hybridization between writing and performative and cinematic practices. Strongly related to re-enactment as a primary tool of investigation, she often works with pre-existing material as a starting point for generating alternative narratives and researching on the image of the catastrophe and the catastrophe of the image, with a focus on communities, in particular survival ones. Carolina studied film and photography in Bologna and earned two master’s degrees in experimental theater and performing arts. She has collaborated with renowned artists and had a solo exhibition at Art City, Arte Fiera in Bologna in 2023. She is a member and curator of Foglia Tonda, an association that investigates the management of internal rural areas in Italy.

Marco-Augusto Basso is an Italian researcher and performer focused on analyzing symbolic language relationships. He explores poetic imagery and its performative capabilities. With a background in sculpture and visual arts, he has studied performance and composition under Jan St. Werner in Den Haag and Nurnberg. Marco-Augusto has also honed his skills in performance and choreography at IUAV Venice with Annalisa Sacchi. Notable achievements include concluding the performance cycle ‚Moyocoyatzin‘ at the Resistere e Creare theater festival and collaborating with Ambra Castagnetti on the ‚Kompostovnik‘ project.
